Scotland Yard officers opened a murder investigation on Thursday following the fatal wound of a 16-year-old British Sikh teenager on a West London street. The victim’s name was Ashmit Singh.

Metropolitan Police said they were called to Raleigh Road in Southall on Wednesday night to report their injury and visited them along with paramedics from the London Ambulance Service (LAS).

“Despite the efforts of the emergency services, he soon died at the scene. His next of kin were informed; official identification is expected, ”the police said.

“This was reported by homicide detectives from Special Crime. There were no arrests. Investigations are ongoing, ”they said, urging anyone with information related to the murder to disclose.

Social media footage shows police officers fighting in vain for the victim’s life in the front garden.

According to the Evening Standard, Singh’s friends fear the UK Sikh boy was attacked because of the fake Gucci bag he always carried with him.

“The police came to check my CCTV camera and said that it was a knife wound, I could not believe it,” the newspaper quoted a local shop owner.

“I knew him, he was a good guy. His friends all say he was stabbed in this Gucci bag, it wasn’t even real. This is terrible. I wish I could hear something or he came running to me. I’d lower the shutters to keep him safe, ”he said.

According to local residents, Singh worked part-time to care for his disabled mother who lives above a store near where her son was killed. His stab wound marks the 28th teenage murder on the streets of London this year.
