MLA AAP detained while trying to infiltrate ‘gherao’ residence from Punjab CM in Chandigarh

Several AAP MLAs were detained by police on Saturday as they tried to head to the residence of Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi to barricade it and protest unemployment, officials said.

They said Chandigarh police barricaded both gates of the MLA dorm to prevent lawmakers from reaching the Punjab chief minister’s residence.

When the MLAs attempted to head towards Channi’s home, they were arrested and taken to the police station. Harpal Singh Chima, Sarawjit Kaur Manuke and Manjit Singh Bilaspur were among the detained lawmakers of the Aam Aadmi party. They were later released, police said.

Chima said Congress has promised a Gar-Gar Rozgar for youth. But over the past more than four and a half years, even 5,500 young people from 55,000 families have not got a job, he says.

The AAP leader said there has been no reliable study of the number of unemployed youth in the state over the past 20-25 years.

It is estimated that more than 20 million skilled young people in the state are unemployed, he said.

According to him, the AAP, as an opposition party, has the same questions for the government as the youth of Punjab. “What has the congressional government done over the past four and a half years in accordance with the promise of Gar-Gar Rozgar?” – posed for Chima.

“Isn’t this a betrayal of the youth of Punjab? Will Congress, especially Chief Minister Channi, apologize to the thousands of young people fighting for jobs on the streets, ”he asked.
