After skipping India’s security dialogue on Afghanistan, China to attend Pakistan’s Troika Plus meet

China said Wednesday it will attend a meeting on Afghanistan convened by its all-weather ally Pakistan, after passing Security Dialogue hosted by India about the situation in a war-torn country, citing “reasons for planning.”

Pakistan will host high-ranking diplomats from the United States, China and Russia in Islamabad on Thursday to discuss the situation in neighboring Afghanistan. The Troika Plus meeting will be attended by special representatives from all four countries.

Asked if China will attend the Islamabad meeting, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said in a media briefing that “China supports Pakistan in hosting this expanded China-US-Russia consultation mechanism meeting and supports all international efforts to promote strengthening peace and peace. stability in Afghanistan and reaching a consensus between all parties. “

“Yue Xiaoyong, Special Envoy of the Chinese Foreign Ministry for Afghanistan, will lead a delegation to attend the meeting,” he said.

Wang said on Tuesday that China will not participate in the India-led security dialogue on Afghanistan for “planning reasons.” China notified the Indian side in response, he said.

National Security Adviser Ajit Doval on Wednesday led the eight-country dialogue in New Delhi, which was attended by officials from Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
