Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Secretary of State and former Mayor of Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Sabyasachi Datta, who left TMC to join the saffron camp two years ago, returned to a party led by Mamata Banerjee.
He joined the state’s ruling party in the room of the TMC General Secretary and Parta Chatterjee’s Cabinet in the Assembly, in the presence of other leaders.
“We included Dutta in the party, according to his request, on the very day that our leader Mamata Banerjee took the oath of office as WFP. She approved of Dutta joining the party, ”Chatterjee said.
Datta, for his part, claimed that some misunderstanding led to his departure from TMC, but that has now been resolved.
He claimed that he would humbly take on any role offered to him by TMC.
“From 2011 to 2021, I was an MLA. I have served as mayor of BMC for several terms. There was some misunderstanding in the party. But this has been eliminated. My new journey with TMC starts today, ”he added.
Datta made way for Bidhannagar to Sujit Bose of TMC in the April-May Assembly elections.
