Blast on rail tracks in Jharkhand derails diesel locomotive

An explosion occurred early Saturday morning in the Dkhanbad region of Jharkhand, tearing off part of a railroad track, derailing a locomotive.

Railways said it was a “bomb blast” that occurred between Garwa Road and the Barkana site in the Dhanbad area.

“An unusual case of a bomb explosion by an intruder who caused diesel locomotives to derail in the Dhanbad section,” the Railways said.

Sources indicate that this was the Naxal incident. There were no reports of death or injury. Senior officers rushed to the site and the track is expected to be rebuilt, officials said.
