Former Manchester United and City striker Carlos Tevez has signed a 12-month contract with Argentine club Rosario Central. This is his first coaching job since the announcement of his retirement.

Carlos Tevez was hired on Tuesday as manager of top-level Argentine club Rosario Central after announcing his retirement earlier this month.

Both Rosario Central and Tevez confirmed the move on social media. The club tweeted that Tevez, 38, has a 12-month contract.

Tevez played for both Manchester United and City clubs in the Premier League. His successful career also included spells with Boca Juniors, Corinthians, West Ham, Juventus and Shanghai Shenhua.

The striker won the Copa Libertadores with Boca in 2003 and the Champions League with Manchester United in 2008. Tevez played for Argentina at the 2006 and 2010 World Cups.

Rosario Central is currently 22nd out of 28 teams in the Argentine Championship with four points after four matches.
