Directed by Mansoor Khan Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988) is one of the most watched and cherished films Aamir Khan, who made his debut in this production by Nasir Hussain. The film also starred actor Duleep Tahil in a key role as Aamir’s father. But did you know that he was only 31 years old when he signed the contract? In a new interview Dalip Tahil reviewed the film and talked about how Nasir Hussain was quite sure that he was playing Aamir’s father in the film.
Duleep Tahil told Times of India that he received Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak after his TV show Buniyaad. He recalled when he asked Nasir Hussain where he found him, the writer-producer replied that he had seen Tahil perform in Buniyaada and was confident that he could handle the role. Dulip described his father role as “strong” and “emotional”. He revealed that several big stars have given up on Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak. He then said that he was only 31 years old when he played the part, but he never thought about his age before signing on to the film.
“I wasn’t even a father myself at the time I played Aamiru Khan’s father, I wasn’t even married,” he said.
Dulip also said that Kayamat Se Kayamat Tak was originally supposed to play the lead roles of Sanjeev Kumar and Shammi Kapoor. At this time, Nasir Hussain was going to direct. However, he suffered a heart attack and was advised not to take the stress of filming onto him. That’s how Mansoor Khan took the director’s chair. But Mansoor Khan brazenly refused to work with stalwarts like Sanjeev Kumar and Shammi Kapoor, whom Nasir Hussain wanted to cast because they were “too old”.
