Germany unveiled the logo for the 2024 UEFA European Football Championship during a ceremony with a light show at the stadium hosting the final. Several guests and media representatives were invited to the Berlin Olympic Stadium for the opening of UEFA, although there were no fans in the German capital on a wet Tuesday evening.
The logo depicts the outline of the Henri Delaunay Cup – a convex tournament trophy – on a colored oval outline reminiscent of the roof of the Olympic Stadium.
It features the colors of the flags of the 55 UEFA member countries, split into 24 pieces around the trophy to represent the 24 teams that will ultimately qualify for the tournament in Germany.
Diversity is celebrated
The organizers said the brand will promote a tournament that welcomes diversity and that everyone should feel welcome. The slogan of the tournament is “Football unites. Vereint im Herzen Europas “- or” United in the Heart of Europe “- aims to convey a message of unity and unity.
The logos of each of the 10 host cities – Berlin, Cologne, Dortmund, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Gelsenkirchen, Hamburg, Leipzig, Munich and Stuttgart – were also presented.
“From now on, the tournament has a corporate identity that reflects our ambitions together with the host association and host cities,” said UEFA President Aleksandr Čeferin.
The tournament will take place in June and July 2024, and the match schedule will be confirmed next year.
In 2006, Germany hosted the FIFA World Cup and the final was held at the renovated Olympiastadion. The stadium was originally built for the 1936 Olympic Games hosted by Nazi Germany.
West Germany also hosted the 1974 World Cup and the 1988 European Championship.
