NorthEast United FC fought for a while, but failed to stop riotous Hyderabad, which took a 5-1 victory at the GMC Athletic Stadium in Bambolim on Monday.

A third win in five games propelled Hyderabad into second place behind Mumbai City. He has 10 points, two less than the leader. NEUFC remains on four points and comes second from the bottom.

Bartholomew Ogbeche scored two goals, bringing his score to five in the season. Chinglensana Singh, Aniket Jadhav and Javier Siverio scored the rest of the goals, while Laldanmavia Ralte became the NEUFC scorer.

Hyderabad wanted to attack from the start. North-East, on the other hand, struggled and gave too many free throws.

The first goal was scored by Edu Garcia from a free kick when Chinglensana bounced back from the post. Fifteen minutes later, Ogbeche doubled the lead. He got a great long ball from the impressive Ashish Rai and calmly hit the far post.

However, NorthEast returned to the game two minutes before the first half. In hand-to-hand combat, after a long-range throw, Tondonba Singh Laldanmavia managed to find the target.

After the break, NorthEast came out stronger and pressed hard on the equalizer. But control over Hyderabad soon returned.

Ogbeche finished 3-1 with a magnificent shot from outside the box. Hyderabad is not over yet as substitutes Aniket and Siverio scored in injury time and the North East was an unforgettable night.

Result: Hyderabad 5 (Chinglensana Singh 12, Bartholomew Ogbeche 27 and 78, Aniket Jadhav 90, Javier Siverio 90 + 3) – North East United 1 (Laldanmavia Ralte 43).
