The MRF Tires team won the Italian Rally Championship (gravel) at the Libourne Rally held last weekend. Entering the rally, Paolo Andreucci with co-driver Rudy Briani at the wheel of the MRF Tires Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo chased Umberto Scandola, who had retired at the beginning of the rally, for the championship.
For MRF Tires it was a daunting task in the ultra-competitive stages of the Italian Championship, and Andreucci had to finish at least second to win.
Four stage wins
The Libourne Rally had nine stages and Team MRF Tires finished in the top three in each stage with four stage wins and a runner-up.
Andreucci, who won his 12th Italian Rally Championship, helped MRF Tires host their first Italian Rally Championship in its very first season.
“A great rally ended a great season. At the beginning of the year we had a goal to be in the top three, and today to become champions is an incredible result, ”Andreucci said.
“This is my 12th title and this win is due to the excellent teamwork of MRF Tires and the H Sport team. Finishing on the podium in recent races is a testament to how much hard work everyone has put into this championship. Our performances over the past few months have been great, ”he added.
The MRF Tires team also recently won the crown of the 2021 Finland Rally Championship and will now take part in the final round of the FIA European Rally Championship at Rally Islas Canarias.
