The controversial and jailed head of Dera Sacha Sauda, Gurmit Ram Rahim, has been found guilty of the murder of Ranjit Singh by a CBI special court in Panchkula.
Ranjit Singh, a former follower of Ram Rahim, was shot dead by four assailants on July 10, 2002 in Kurukshetra after he allegedly “raised his voice” against a self-styled man of God who is currently being held at the Sunariya High Security Prison. in Rohtak, 250 km from the state capital of Chandigarh.
On August 24, the High Court of Punjab and Haryana barred a CBI special judge in Panchkul Haryana from sentencing the murder of Ranjit Singh.
The order was issued at the request of the victim’s son Jagsir Singh.
