CD Jinan of Petronas TVS Racing won a massive double in the prestigious SX1 Foreign Open class in the third round of the MRF MoGrip FMSCI Supercross National Championship at CODISSIA grounds here on Sunday.

Jinan, 46, from Kerala, who was on the TVS RTR 300, didn’t start the season well, crashing in Pune followed by flat tires in the second round. But he put that aside when the most important thing was to put on an incredible performance and get back in the fight for the championship.

“The track was very technical and you can’t afford to go all out. If you are too aggressive on such a track, it will be difficult for you to keep the flow,” said Jinan, who was in complete control of the situation in both races.

The second race was even hotter, both in terms of heat and competition. But Jinan, an experienced supercross rider, beat them both and made a great double.

“The table tops were too high and you had to be careful when landing as you could bounce. That was the main task, but the rest was pretty easy,” he said.

Sartak Chavan from Pune also made a superdouble in the SX2 class. In junior SX2 both races were won by Akshat Hupale, also from Pune.

Joker Lane, reintroduced a few years later, made it even tighter for riders, but the best planned it right.

Shyam Kothari of Godspeed, the man behind the show, was pleased that the event not only drew a large crowd, but was also uneventful.
