MLC elections in Maharashtra: Two candidates from the ruling allies of the PNC, Shiv Sena and four from the BJP, each win polls for the Maharashtra Legislative Council, officials say.

Who exposed whom?

The NCP nominated Naik Nimbalkar and former minister Eknat Hadse, who left the BJP to join the party led by Sharad Pawar, to Ramraja. The Shiv Sena nominated Sachin Ahir and Amshya Padvi, party functionaries from the tribal-dominated Nandurbar region.

The Congress included the head of the Mumbai Congress, Bhai Jagtap, and former minister Chandrakant Khandor. BJP re-nominated outgoing MLC Darekar and Lad and provided tickets for Ram Shinde, Uma Khapre and Shrikant Bharatiya.

The effective size of the 288-member Maharashtra Assembly has dwindled to 285 since the death of Shiv Sena MLA Ramesh Latke, while two NCP MLA members – Nawab Malik and Anil Deshmukh – are currently in jail and ineligible to vote. high court.
