ZEE5’s upcoming original film Aafat-E-Ishq starring Neha Sharma will debut October 29, the streaming service reported on Friday.
Directed by Indrajit Natoji, the film is an Indian adaptation of the award-winning Hungarian film Lisa the Fairy Fox, ZEE5 said in a statement.
The drama tells the story of Lallo (Sharma) and her quest for true love. She reveals herself as the prime suspect after a series of multiple deaths, while an ancient curse looms, threatening to destroy everything and everyone around her, according to the official lair.
Deepak Dobriyal, Amit Sial, Namit Das and Ila Arun also star in Aafat-I-Ishq, which is produced by Zee Studios.
Manish Kalra, Chief Commercial Officer of ZEE5 India, said there is a segment of the audience that is eagerly awaiting supernatural stories and he hopes people will like Aafat-I-Ishq.
“The original Hungarian film Lisa, the Fox Fairy was a huge international success and even in India we have seen a lot of supernatural stories become popular over the last couple of years.
“As a consumer-centric OTT platform, we are focused on serving the most popular entertainment across genres and are confident that Aafat-E-Ishq will be loved by patrons of the genre and leave its mark,” Kalra said in a statement.
Nimisha Pandey, head of Hindi Originals at ZEE5, said they are delighted to recreate the Hungarian film for Indian audiences in the language of their choice.
“Aafat-E-Ishq is a gripping story based on India’s love of the supernatural and fantasy genre. The film will certainly feature a unique storyline, quirky characters, and dark humor that we’re sure will appeal to a wide variety of consumer cohorts. We are very excited to bring this to your screens soon, ”added Pandy.
Ashima Avasthi, head of content at Zee Studios, said the team is confident that Aafat-E-IShq’s story, based on its powerful characteristics, will be appreciated by consumers.
