On Thursday, a bus collided with a sand truck near the village of Baburi in the area, killing nine people and injuring 27, police said.
The 70-passenger bus was heading to Bahreich from Delhi when the accident occurred, Police Superintendent Yamuna Prasad said, adding that the accident happened when the bus driver tried to avoid colliding with a stray cow.
The victims were taken to the trauma center in Lucknow.
In condolences to the victims of the accident, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced an ex-gratia payment of 2 lakhs to the families of the victims and 50,000 rupees for the injured.
Adityanath asked the local administration to provide the wounded with the best possible medical care.
