Chinese tennis star Peng Shuai, whose whereabouts have been of international concern for several weeks, attended a tennis tournament in Beijing on November 21, according to official photographs released from the tournament hosted by the China Open.

According to photos posted on the official WeChat page of the event, Peng can be seen among the guests of the Fila Kids Junior Tennis Challenger, wearing a navy blue jacket and white pants.

The former double world number has not been seen or heard publicly since she said on Chinese social media on November 2 that former Deputy Prime Minister Zhang Gaoli coerced her into sex, and they later had a mutual consensual relationship.

Neither Zhang nor the Chinese government commented on her accusations. Peng’s social media post was quickly deleted and discussion of the topic on the heavily censored Chinese internet was blocked.

World tennis organizations have expressed concern that the Women’s Tennis Association has threatened to withdraw the tournaments from China. The United States and Britain have demanded proof of Pen’s whereabouts and safety.
