Sachin Tendulkar praises Taapsee Pannu’s Shabaash Mithu trailer, says ‘Mithali Raj has inspired millions’

Sachin Tendulkar reacted to the recently released trailer for Shabaash Mithu cricket movie based on life and times Mitali Raj. The trailer for the film was launched on social media by former national cricket team captain Surav Ganguly. The two-minute trailer begins with Mitali’s childhood story. He later moves on to how she started playing, her training, becoming a captain, and the difficulties of being a woman in a game like cricket. Taapsee will star in the film, which will premiere on July 15.

The trailer for Shabaash Mithu, starring Taapsee, was released on June 20. Known for her record breaking 23-year career in international cricket, Mitali Raj has over 10,000 ODI runs. The film chronicles her journey to become a legendary cricketer and an inspiration to billions of girls and women around the world. This film is dedicated to Mitali’s recent retirement from all forms of cricket.

‘God of Cricket’ Calls Movie Trailer ‘Soulful’

Shabaash Mithu’s team has received approval from Sachin Tendulkar after the launch of the trailer. Sachin wrote about this on Twitter. “#ShabaashMithuTrailer is touching. Mitali has inspired millions of people to dream and follow their passion and I look forward to watching this film. My best wishes to the entire team (sic).”

Film with a message

Filming the journey of Mitali Raj, the creators raised the issue of gender discrimination. The message of Nazariya Badlo, Khel Badalgaya is contained in the trailer to the very end with compelling dialogue and glimpses of the talented taapsee playing Mitali with the utmost conviction. Directed by Shrijit Mukherjee and produced by Viacom18 Studios, the film opens in theaters on July 15th.
