India’s 16-player roster for three T20I events against New Zealand, announced Tuesday, was both surprised, welcomed and unexpected. For starters, as expected, senior players like Virat Koli, Jasprit Bumra and Mohammed Shami rested, while the IPL trio Venkatesh Iyer, Harshal Patel and Avesh Khan were awarded their first international challenge.

There were other notable absentees, the most famous being Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja, while the spinner Varun Chakravarti was also fired. Rahul Chahar was recruited to Team India for the South Africa Tour, as was Prithvi Show. Overall, the line-up looks set to cover all bases for New Zealand’s matches, which kick off on November 17 in Jaipur.

However, another name disappeared in the team, which not many people pay attention to. Sanju Samson has not found a place for himself despite participating in the ODI and T20I Indian Tour of Sri Lanka, and most recently played in the IPL 2021 for the Rajasthan Royals, scoring an impressive 484 runs in 14 matches.

On Twitter, Samson is believed to have expressed his opinion of the omission through a cryptic tweet. Samson has posted a collage of three photographs in which he demonstrates his heroic acting near the border. Samson has made some spectacular traps in the outfield, especially when one fielder hits the ball back and the other ends up catching. In all three photographs, Samson could be seen either taking the catch or throwing it back into the far side of the field in his best athletic form.

Samson currently plays for the Syed Mushtak Ali Trophy for Kerala, where he has 54 *, 45 * and 56 * in five matches. He last played international cricket in July against Sri Lanka, scoring 34 runs in three T20I events and 46 in his ODI debut.
