Schools in Himachal Pradesh on Monday resumed physical education for grade 8 students after a long hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Earlier, on September 27, schools reopened to students in grades 9-12.
The decision to open schools for grades 8 through 12 was made by the state government after taking into account the COVID-19 situation in Himachal Pradesh and receiving positive reviews.
According to a government notice released on October 8, the department of education is allowed to open schools from grade 8 on all weekdays in accordance with COVID-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety regulations.
It states that in order to ensure compliance with all SOPs, including student placement, principals and principals have the right to implement microplanes they have prepared for the school concerned, subject to housing availability.
