The Scouts director Christopher Landon paid tribute to the actor on Twitter, writing: “Joey Morgan came into my life almost 9 years ago when I was filming The Scouts. Chicago-born Morgan made his debut in Paramount’s action movie The Scouts’ Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse (2015) as Augie Foster and was one of the three main characters alongside Tye Sheridan and Logan Miller.

The following year, he co-hosted the Mexican-American production of Compadres, a comedy in which he played a teenage hacker paired with a former police officer, played by Omar Chaparro. In 2017, Morgan played troubled teen Luke Sherman in Max Winkler’s dark comedy Flower, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. Morgan received high praise for his performance and was selected by Indie Wire as one of Tribeca’s Highlights Talents of that year, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Morgan had a prolific 2018, starring in the indie comedies Sierra Burgess Loser and Camp Mann and appearing in the TBS comedy Angie Tribeca. His last major film was in the 2020 sci-fi comedies Max Reloaded and Demolitionists of the Nether. On television, Morgan has starred in an episode of “Chicago Med” and has played multiple times in 2019’s Critters: A New Binge.
