An old photo of Pakistani activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai and her new husband Asser Malik went viral. The reason is that the photo, taken in July this year, shows Shah Rukh Khan, or rather his life-size cardboard cutout.

Malala and Asser got married in Birmingham on Tuesday after a two-year relationship.

Asser shared a photo of Shah Rukh’s neckline on Malala’s birthday this year, when she turned 24. He wrote in the caption: “Happy Birthday, the most amazing @Malala. @iamsrk certainly had to play the necessary bit part. ” Malala is a recognized fan of the Indian actor. She also invited Shah Rukh to speak at Oxford University while she was studying there.

“Happy birthday to the most amazing @Malala. @iamsrk certainly had to make the necessary cameo, Asser wrote while sharing the photo. This neckline was a birthday present for Malala from a friend.

Malala confirmed the news of her wedding on social media. She wrote: “Today is a significant day in my life. Asser and I tied the knot to become partners for life. My families and I celebrated a small nikki ceremony at home in Birmingham. Please send us your prayers. We are delighted to go on this journey together. “

Malala, a girl from Pakistan’s Swat Valley, has been a face of civic activism and women’s right to education since a Taliban shot her in the head when she defied a dictate that banned girls from going to school. She was then 15 years old.

The Nobel Peace Prize was awarded two years later, in 2014, making her the youngest ever to be honored.
