Raducanu lost 6-2, 6-4 in the second round, ending her 10-match winning streak that began in New York. She received a wild card for the ATP / WTA Joint Tournament in the Southern California Desert.

Sasnovich, 27, of Belarus, ranked 100th in the world, reached the doubles semi-finals at the US Open last month, while Radukanu had a stunning run from qualifying to champion at age 18.

Sasnovich got serve breaks to lead 3-1 and 5-2 and close the set in 30 minutes without losing the serve.

Raducanu took the lead 4: 2 in the second set. But Sasnovic shot for the fifth time and took 5: 4 ahead of the match. Sasnovic won 53% of her second innings, while Raducanu only 29%.

Former No. 1 men’s Andy Murray and runner-up Leyla Fernandez, runner-up, played in the night games.

It took Iga Svyatek just 71 minutes to beat Petra Martic 6-1, 6-3.

The last time the tournament was held in 2019, Svetek lost in qualifying. She is now the No. 2 seeded and 2020 French Open champion.

Sviatek won nine of the first 10 games against Martic before the Polish star broke twice and lost 0-3 in the second set. Svyatek got together to win the next six games and close the match.

“In 2019, I didn’t play as confidently, but I’m really happy that times have changed now,” Svyatek said. “In the second set I lost my concentration for one game and it broke me pretty quickly, so I knew. I just had to keep going and not stop a second time. “

Seed No. 4 Elina Svitolina beat Teresa Martinova 6: 2, 7: 5. The ninth seeded Anatasia Pavlyuchenkova beat Madison Keys 6-3, 6-1.

Seeds # 11 Simona Halep beat Marta Kostyuk 7-6 (2), 6-1.

Victoria Azarenka pushed ahead when Magda Lynette was eliminated 7-5, 3-0. Shelby Rogers defeated Kristina Kutsova 6: 2, 6: 2.

Among the men, Americans Jenson Brooksby and Ernesto Escobedo won their first round matches. Brooksby beat Cem Ilkel 7-6 (5), 6-4, while Escobedo beat Holger Rune 6-4, 6-1.
