The format of the qualification has not been announced, although the 54 participating teams will likely be split into 10 qualification groups, with five or six teams each playing from March to November 2023.
This would allow the top two in each group to advance straight to the 24-team final tournament and join host Germany.
The Euro 2024 line-up is likely to be expanded in March 2024 with three playoff brackets with teams based on their position in the Nations League groups played next year.
The UEFA Nations League groups will be drawn in June and September ahead of the Euro 2024 qualifying draw on October 9th.
UEFA is planning the draw for these Nations League groups on 16 December in Montreux, Switzerland.
There are 16 teams in each of the top three tiers of the Nations League, with just seven nations making the lowest-ranked League D, which is unlikely to get a protected playoff path to the Euro 2024 final tournament. At Euro 2020, a fourth level playoff allowed North Macedonia to qualify.
The top-tier teams that advance to the Nations League Final Four in June 2023 will have to make it to the lighter five-team qualifiers for Euro 2024.
