Smriti Union Minister for Women and Children Zubin Irani has tested positive for Covid-19, she tweeted.

On Twitter, Smriti Irani wrote: “I apologize to the citizens for not being able to attend the program organized in Rajendra Nagar because my coronavirus report came out positive. I encourage the people of Rajendra Nagar to vote @rajeshbhatiabjp and help. @BJP4Delhi will win.”

This is the second time a minister has tested positive for Covid. She previously became infected in 2020 during the first wave of Covid.

India reported 12,899 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, raising the number of infected to 4,32,96,692 and active cases to 72,474, according to the Union Ministry of Health. The death toll rose to 5,24,855. with 15 new deaths.

Active cases account for 0.17% of the total number of infected. The Ministry of Health reported that the national recovery rate for COVID-19 was recorded at 98.62%.

Within 24 hours, an increase in the active load of COVID-19 by 4366 cases was registered.

The ministry said the daily positivity rate was recorded at 2.89 percent and the weekly positivity rate at 2.50 percent.
