India is a clear underdog in the four-nation women’s opening match against mighty Brazil, but head coach Thomas Dennerby said on Wednesday that his team will fight “to the last whistle.”

India will play world 7th against Brazil on Friday, then face off against Chile (November 29) and Venezuela (December 2).

Considered the greatest footballer in the world, Marta was included in the Brazilian national team.

“The mentality in the matches is a victory. I never tell my players that I am happy with a 0-1 or 0-2 defeat, ”Dennerby said in a post from the All India Football Federation.

“But we also need to understand that it’s impossible to win all the games. However, we want to have a winning mentality, such that we hate losing any match and will fight until the final whistle. “

Dennerby said his players are more than interested in playing against the home side.

“There is a lot of enthusiasm in the team because Brazil is a very good football country and we follow many Brazilian players ourselves. We all admire them, and they have a lot to learn from, ”said the Swede.

“Playing against them is a great motivation for all of us.”

India is currently ranked 57th, while Brazil is 50 places higher. Citing a higher level of competition, India captain Ashalata Devi said it would be a “huge opportunity” for her team to play against the best team in the world.

“Obviously Brazil is a big team, they are also higher in the rankings and we think we are very lucky to have the opportunity to play against them. This is a great opportunity for us to learn and improve with them, ”Ashalata said.

This will be the first time that India’s senior national team will face Brazil in football. Meanwhile, for Brazil it will be a farewell match with their legendary midfielder Formiga Mota.

“We were preparing about three months before, so I’m excited and confident before the match. I am very happy to play against Martha and Formiga. But we will do our best to stop them, ”Ashalata said.
