Amid an ever-increasing number of Zika virus cases in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, the city reported 3 more cases on Wednesday, bringing the number of active cases to 91. In addition, 17 people recovered and tested negative for the infection.

Earlier today, CM UP Yogi Adityanath analyzed the Zika virus situation in Kanpur. Chief Physician (CMO) Dr Nepal Singh said the 16 new patients are from Harjinder Nagar, Pokharpur, Tivaripur Bagia and Kazi Khera in the Chakeri area.

Pregnant women who contracted the virus underwent ultrasound examinations and doctors confirmed that their fetuses were healthy.

“In a report from KGMU Lucknow on Tuesday, seven women, of whom two are pregnant, and nine men were confirmed to be infected with the Zika virus. Those infected do not have serious symptoms. They are all kept in home isolation. About 100 Source reduction teams and 15 home sampling and sampling teams were deployed in the city. In addition, 15 more rapid response teams were deployed to check the spread of the Zika virus, ”said the marketing director.

A massive sampling campaign is under way in the affected areas, a senior health official said.
