Kangana Ranaut launched a scandal on November 11, claiming that India had achieved “true freedom” in 2014.

The head of the Delhi Women’s Commission, Swati Maliwal, wrote to President Ram Nath Kovind on Sunday urging him to withdraw the Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian honor, awarded to actor Kangana Ranaut for her remarks that belittled the country’s independence.

On November 11, Ms Ranaut launched the scandal by claiming that India had achieved “real freedom” in 2014, apparently referring to the rise to power of the government of Narendra Modi and describing the country’s independence in 1947 as “bhik” (alms).

In her letter, Ms. Malival said the actor “made some outrageous statements that dishonored the country’s great freedom fighters.”

The DCW chief also demanded a charge of incitement to mutiny. Queen actor.

“These statements reflect her hatred of our great freedom fighters like Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh and countless others who gave their lives for the nation! We all know that our nation gained independence from British rule through the great sacrifices and martyrdom of our great freedom fighters, ”she wrote.

Emphasizing that Ms Ranaut’s statements hurt the feelings of millions of Indians and were “seditious”, she urged the President to “kindly take note of this issue and revoke the honor given to Ms. Ranaut by Padma Shri.”

“I also ask you to secure the registration of the FIR against her on charges of incitement to mutiny. I hope that you will support the opinion of millions of Indians and will do everything necessary in this matter, ”said Ms Maliwal.

The head of DCW said that Ms. Ranaut “with her unfeeling and thoughtless lies” humiliated and belittled the “sacrifices of millions of Indians who participated” in various movements, such as the 1857 uprising, Champaran Satyagra, Caliphate movement, Get Out of India Movement, “March of Dundee”, “Non-Cooperation Movement” and a number of others.

“How can we forget the thousands who gathered in Jallianwala Bagh to protest against British rule and the ensuing massacre? Are these chapters of our history bhik? Ms. Malival wanted to know.

She also pointed out that this was not an accidental incident involving the actor and that “The runout does not seem to be sane.”

“She usually spews poison against the people of her country and has repeatedly used vile language to attack those she disagrees with. Her behavior is in no way consistent with the recipient of the highest honor in the country, and is also an insult to those who received the award with her and before her, ”added Ms Malival.

Ms. Ranaut was recently awarded the Padma Shri.
