IN Central Council for Secondary Education (CBSE) in collaboration with the Carpet Crafts and Skills Council (HCSSC), a student manual on the Crafts Skills Module for grades 6 to 8 was recently released in the capital. The publication was launched by Manoj Ahuja, IAS, Chair of CBSE.
This Crafts Skills Module is practice-oriented and provides students with a hands-on learning experience. This guide will cover two modules: papier-mâché and fashion jewelry. The student’s handicraft manual / workbook will be available on the CBSE academic website (http://cbseacademic.nic.in).
“I appreciate the efforts of the HCSSC Academic wing to develop this handbook for students and hope that this module will help raise awareness of India’s rich cultural heritage and traditions, as envisioned in NEP 2020,” said the CBSE chairman.
P. Prahladka, Chairman of the HCSSC, expressed the hope that “this Crafts module will help develop students’ aesthetic sensitivity, creativity, planning skills, problem-solving skills and innovation.”
Krishna Kumar, CEO of HCSSC, said that only recycled materials were used in the hands-on exercises in the handbook to help build good environmental habits in students at a young age. All the tools and equipment required to teach this skill module can be easily purchased by the school and are completely safe for students.
