Delhi govt to take over Punjabi Bagh private school management over extra fee complaints – Times of India


NEW DELHI: The Delhi government has decided to take over the management of the Swami Sivananda Memorial School located in Punjabi Bagh after receiving several complaints from parents that school authorities arbitrarily charge additional fees to students.

In response to the parents’ complaints, the Delhi government has set up a commission of inquiry to investigate the matter.

The committee found deficiencies in the functioning of the school and found that the questions raised by parents about the school were true. By submitting the report, the school management was given the opportunity to protect themselves, but they were unable to provide reasonable answers about the anomalies in its functioning.

In view of the shortcomings and complaints that were found to be true, the Delhi government decided to initiate a process for the transfer of school management in accordance with the provisions of the Delhi School Education Act 1973.
