Captain of India Shikhar Dhavan on Thursday indicated that there is an option not to play in the T20 International series after the loss of nine players COVID-19 related to isolation, but they took the difficult route of playing with only five batsmen.
India lost the T20 1-2 three-match streak, losing seven wickets.
“It was a difficult situation for us, but as a team we decided to stay and play the series,” Dhawan said at the post-match presentation ceremony.
When asked what he learned as a team leader, Dhawan said, “I learned a lot as a captain. The last game was closed. Today was a day off for the batting team, but the boys will learn from this. We lost too many wickets today and the Sri Lankan bowlers played well. ”
He said he always had to catch up after losing too many wickets.
“When you lose early wickets and are short on time, you’re under pressure. Both teams played in a great mood and it was a great feeling. The captain and the Sri Lankan players wanted to know about my process, so I told them and I hope they enjoyed listening to it. “
Wanindu Hasaranga has been named player of the match as well as player in the series.
“The gate was slow and our spoons played very well,” he said.
“When I play bowling, I always try to hit the dot balls. This helps to get the wicket door. Placing on the field also helps. I’m really happy because the other guys have played very well throughout the series, both in ODI and T20I. “
