Georginio Wijnaldum’s side started the competition with a 100% start, scoring eight goals in their first three matches.
The Netherlands failed to finish in the first half and hit a new low after failing to record a single shot – just six shots tonight – for the first time in the history of the UEFA European Championship and the FIFA World Cup on goal. … In total, they played 89 matches.
With this defeat, the Netherlands no longer beat today’s rival in their last four matches in a row.

The red card for the Juventus defender also increased their tournament record to four: two against Czechoslovakia (both in 1976) and two against the Czech Republic (2004, 2020).
The Czech Republic will meet Denmark in Baku at the quarterfinal stage of the tournament, and if they win, then next time they will meet with one of the England or Germany.
