French Open tennis silver medalist Stefanos Tsitsipas was upset in the first round of Wimbledon, Francis Tiafoe of the United States.
Tiafoe, who finished 57th, often put pressure on the net and won 6-4, 6-4, 6-3. He previously played 0-11 against top 5 players.
Tiafoe won 24 points at goal and retained all seven break points.
Tsitsipas finished third and won more matches this year than any other player on the men’s tour. He reached his first Grand Slam final at Roland Garros this month before missing out on a two-set lead in the final against Novak Djokovic.
Tsitsipas lost in the first round of Wimbledon for the third time in four matches.
Former two-time champion Kvitova lost at Wimbledon
Two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova was knocked out in the first round by American Sloan Stevens 6-3, 6-4.
Stevens, a former top 10 player, is now 73rd with just 14 unforced errors. Her best performance at Wimbledon was in 2013 when she advanced to the quarterfinals.
Kvitova was seeded 10th and won the tournament in 2011 and 2014.
