Security forces on Wednesday shot dead three militants, including a self-styled leader of the terrorist organization Resistance Front (TRF), who were wanted in the city’s recent killings of civilians, officials said.
According to them, a short skirmish took place in the Rambagh area of the city.
Officials said the three militants, including Mehran Shalla, a self-proclaimed TRF commander, were driving when they were detained by security forces.
According to them, the militants were shot dead while trying to escape.
In addition to Shalla, a resident of the Jamalat district, officials said the other two killed militants are Manzur Ahmad Mir and Arafat Sheikh, both residents of Pulwama.
The militants were linked to TRF, an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba, officials said.
Mehran is wanted by security forces in connection with several killings of civilians, including the shooting of two teachers at a school in the Eidgah district of Srinagar last month, they said.
Militants throw a grenade at the KPI camp in Bandipor
On Wednesday, gunmen threw a grenade at a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp in the Bandipor area in Jammu and Kashmir. However, according to them, no damage was done because the grenade did not hit its intended target.
Ultras threw a grenade at the CRPF camp at Sumbala in Bandipor, officials said.
According to them, the grenade exploded on the side of the road without causing any damage.
