The 2020 Tokyo Olympics kicked off today (July 23rd) and Snapchat users can take advantage of some of the gaming-related features. Snapchat will have two shows from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on the platform. These include “Highlights of the Olympics” and “Best of the Olympics”.
Olympic Highlights is a daily show in India that will highlight the highlights of the Tokyo Olympics every day and will be hosted by the IOC. Top Olympic Games will include the IOC, highlight top athletes and stories from past Olympics.
The @Olympics official account will have an innovative augmented reality lens called “Train Like an Olympian”, which will use Snap body tracking technology. This will help Snapchat users stay active by completing three exercises before the time runs out and reward them with virtual fireworks.
Snapchat also offers organic Olympic-themed cameos in the sticker drawer and chat during the Tokyo Games. This will allow Snapchat users to support their country and their favorite Olympic sport. The company says users love sports, with over 85 million Snapchat users watching sports content every month.
Snapchat recently announced that the platform will receive a new feature that will allow users to view a 3D version of themselves on their Snapchat and Friendship profile. Snapchat profiles are now getting a new look that will allow you to view over 1200 combinations of body postures, facial expressions, gestures and backgrounds to better personalize digital avatars on the platform.
Users will be able to match their 3D Bitmoji to their mood, including peace signs, prayer hands, scenic beaches, and animal backgrounds. The company says that by leveraging Pixar’s 3D quality capabilities, Snapchat users will be able to view expanded details of their personalized avatar, including clothing textures and unique jewelry from their favorite fashion labels.
