Pakistani head coach Misbah-ul-Haq on Sunday stressed the importance of the England tour for his team. Speaking at a virtual press conference hosted by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Misba said the tour will be a big step in preparing the team for the T20 World Cup later this year.
“England has always been an important tour for us, especially with the T20 World Cup just a few months away. We know England is a white ball power, so this is a great opportunity for us to play against them, ”he said.
Pakistan will play three ODI matches and an equal number of T20I matches against England, followed by five T20I matches and two test matches against the West Indies.
The former Pakistani captain also said he was looking forward to returning fans to the stadiums.
“We also came here last year, but when spectators appear on the stage, the atmosphere becomes completely different, and I can feel it,” said Misbah.
“I’m not sure if we can go somewhere or meet friends here, but we have been in quarantine for the last seven days, which have been tough days, but we will start training tomorrow.
“As a head coach, I would rather be locked up as it keeps us together as a team, whether we are in the team room, in the cafeteria or on the ground. Last year, when we came here, we were cut away from our families, but the whole team became a family, ”he said.
“We have to understand that form is not permanent, so we will try to use this isolation time to get them (players) back in shape.
“We are looking forward to a cricket competition against the host country. The good news is that our bench is strong enough to withstand any team in any conditions, ”Miesbach signed.
