Peter Capaldi, Cush Jumbo to lead Apple show Criminal Record


British star Peter Capaldi and actor Kush Jumbo will headline a new thriller for the streaming service. Apple TV+. According to a press release from the company, the show, called Crime File, has received an eight-episode order from the streamer.

In the series, described as a powerful character thriller set in the heart of modern London, Capaldi and Jumbo will play two detectives battling a historic murder charge.

“An anonymous phone call engages two brilliant detectives in a confrontation over an old murder case – one a young woman in the early stages of her career, and the other a well-connected man determined to protect his legacy,” read the official storyline.

The criminal dossier, which comes from Paul Rutman, touches on issues of race, institutional failure and the desire to find common ground in a polarized Britain.

Capaldi, former star of perennial British TV series Doctor Whowill play Chief Detective Daniel Hegarty.

Jumbo, best known for The Good Wife and The Good Fight, will play Sergeant June Lenker.

Created for Apple TV+ by Tod Productions and STV Studios, the series is currently filming in London. Jim Loach is a director.

Rutman, Elaine Collins, Capaldi and Jumbo also serve as executive producers on the project.
