Presidential polls: NDA’s candidate Droupadi Murmu to file nomination today

Draupadi Murma on Friday, he will submit his candidacy in the presidential elections as a candidate from the ruling NDA coalition. This morning, Murmu was seen heading from Odisha Bhawan to Parliament, where she will file her nomination papers.

On Thursday, met Murma Prime Minister Narendra ModiHome Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and BJP President J.P. Nadd in the nation’s capital.

In a brief statement before her departure to the capital Murmu from Bhubaneswar, Odisha said: “I thank everyone and look for cooperation with everyone in the presidential elections. I will meet with all voters (legislators) and ask for their support before July 18.”

A 64-year-old man from the Santal community in Odisha was named the BJP-led NDA presidential candidate on Tuesday evening, hours after the former Union minister. Yashwant Sinha was announced as joint candidate by major opposition parties including Congress, TMC and NCP.

Murmu elections almost certain considering the numbers are heavily stacked in favor of the ruling NDA. Her candidacy, put forward by Nadda after a meeting of the parliamentary council of the party, seems to have put some opposition parties in a difficult position, especially Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), which draws its electoral power from tribal votes.
