The son of a senior journalist was found dead in Odisha.

The body of a man identified as the son of leading journalist Nabin Das was recovered Sunday in a pond in the village of Patrapada on the outskirts of the state capital, police said.

The deceased was identified as 30-year-old Manish Anurag Das, the eldest son of the editor of the Nirbhai daily newspaper Odiya. On Saturday, Manish disappeared from the control of the Infocity police.

Family members claimed that he was abducted and then killed.

“We have documented two cases, one at the Infocity Police Station and the other at the Tamando Police Station following the body retrieval,” Bhubaneswar told DCP US Dash to reporters after visiting the site.

The body was sent to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for autopsy, police said, and further investigation is currently underway.

A DCP spokesman said, “The man called his family members and said that he was with two young men. Later, family members said that they had been called demanding a ransom. ”

He said police are investigating kidnapping charges and ransom demands.

Dash added that a special squad has been formed to investigate the case.

Senior officials said all CCTV cameras around the site where Manish’s body was found are being closely monitored.
