“About 8,000-10,000 people come every day and the number increases on weekends. On average, the sale is 40 lakhs per day and the highest was 60 lakhs last Sunday, ”said Pravir Krishna, Managing Director of TRIFED.

“This is an exhibition of forest dwellers, not ordinary shopkeepers. The vendors at the show are from far-flung corners of the country and their products range from forestry products to hand looms, ”he added.

Aadi Mahotsav, an annual tribal festival organized by TRIFED, with over 200 stalls from all over the country and nearly 1,000 artisans and artists with their unique stories, is a way to bring adivasis into the mainstream. The festival was opened by Sukhram Munda, grandson of Bhagavan Birs Mund on November 16.

This year, an exclusive Van Dhan product sales and display pavilion opened with a wide range of products ranging from organic amla candies to copper bottles in bamboo crates. In a press statement, Aadi Mahotsawa has a total of 545 Van Dhan items that are sold by tribal vendors through more than 11 dedicated Van Dhan stalls.

This Aadi Mahotsav also brings GI-tagged tribal produce from across the country, including organic produce from the North-East Farm Sale, which sells Joha rice, Assam Orthodox tea, Mizo Bird Eye Chilli (among the top ten hottest chili peppers in world), Manipur. Kachai Lemon Pickle and Bhoot Jhalokia Pickle.
